Our marina has been located on Shasta Lake for more than 25 years. We are proud that we have many guests who come back to our marina to vacation every year for more than just houseboating. They come for a fabulous vacation. We love hearing about their amazing adventures, their great experience on their houseboat, and we listen most keenly to what we could add to enhance their experience. During the last few decades, we’ve learned a lot about houseboats, “our” lake and our guests. Here’s what we’ve learned over the years about our luxury houseboats, the best spots on the lake to explore, and how our guests go beyond just houseboating and experience their best vacation possible on the lake.
At Shasta Marina at Packers Bay, it is our pleasure to offer unexpected luxury from premium boats on the largest reservoir in California. Most houseboats offer the basic comforts and amenities of a vacation home, with the mobility to travel around a majestic lake. Our guests told us they wanted specific things to make their experience better, and they can be found on all of our boats.
They requested several premium additions like high-quality ceramic plates, glass wine cups, premium coffee makers, and premium cookware and baking dishes. After all, floating on the lake shouldn’t mean you can’t bake hot, fresh chocolate chip cookies in a full-size onboard oven.
Our guests also enjoy our deluxe features of hot-tubs, fireplaces, two-story slides, and upper-deck bars on most of our models. All of our boats have full-sized refrigerators, gas barbecue grills, private bedrooms, and entertainment centers to make the vacation as comfortable as home.
Onboard you’ll find beds ready for your linens, full sized bathrooms waiting for your hairdryer and suntan lotion, a kitchen outfitted with cookware, dining ware, blender, coffee maker and a toaster, and a refrigerator and freezer chilled and ready for your favorite groceries – everything you need to make your meal preparation as easy as floating.
If you want to pick up the pace, we offer smaller watercraft rentals such as pontoon boats, ski boats, jet skis, and wakeboards. You can also slow it down in a kayak, paddle board or on your own lily pad. You choose your pace because no matter what, we’ve got you covered.
When you’re talking with our staff about watercraft, ask them about their favorite things to do in and around the lake like exploring the Shasta Caverns, birdwatching, or hiking. They’ll be happy to share the best places to find bald eagles, hot fishing, and cool waterfalls.
The water is always great on Lake Shasta to fish, jet ski, tube, water ski, or just hang-out. Being located on the largest reservoir in the state of California has its advantages, particularly during a “drought.” One of the best things that our annual guests share with us is that Shasta Lake provides plenty of water to do their favorite water activities every year, when the water level at the lake is high or low. We are constantly monitoring water levels and making changes to our operation to make your experience the best during changing water levels.
Sensible planning before you arrive at the marina can ensure a fantastic voyage. Many comforts of home are already on the houseboats, but you’ll want to make sure that you bring your favorite items to ensure that you savor all the amenities of your lavish floating estate. Some of the best experiences go beyond libations, books, and snacks to include new favorites like a soft throw for the top deck view in the morning, hiking boots (or tennis shoes) for the trails around the lake or a guitar for songs around the campfire at night.
