HOUSEBOAT RENTAL AGREEMENT

Please read your Houseboat Rental Agreement carefully before you book your trip. Any monies received by Shasta Marina at Packers Bay for occupancy of a Houseboat Rental indicates the acceptance of the terms of our Houseboat Rental Agreement in full; however, reservations are not confirmed until receipt of signed Houseboat Rental Agreement. All policies are strictly enforced. It is the responsibility of all Renters and Guests of the Renter to be familiar with all policies pertaining to rental.
Rental Requirements: A Reservation may be booked with a $1,000 security deposit. A $2,000 security deposit is required for Mother's Day and Memorial Day weekend. A reservation can only be confirmed upon receipt of a reservation/security deposit AND a signed rental agreement. For legal and accounting purposes, the person placing the reservation must be the same as the credit/debit card holder. This person is considered to be the Renter. All other persons involved with the rental are considered to be the Renter’s invitees, and all discussion regarding the reservation, cancellation, and damage policies will be discussed with the Renter, not the Renter’s invitees. The Renter understands that he/she must be at least 25 years of age (except Mother’s Day Weekend and Memorial Day Weekend, the Renter must be at least 30 years of age). A copy of the Renter’s valid driver’s license is required at the time of arrival. All Renters or Captains designated by the Renter must go through a complete orientation on houseboat handling and operating.
Security Deposit: The security deposit paid is not part of your rental amount. It is above and beyond the rent and is 100% refundable by check, provided the boat is returned clean, undamaged, full of gasoline and with initial inventory intact. Gas tanks are filled at renter’s expense upon return of rental. Gasoline may NOT be charged against the deposit and NO CASH will be refunded. A minimum cleaning fee of $100 will be charged on all boats returned unclean. A late charge of $100 per hour or any part of an hour will be charged for late returns.
Rental Payment: Full Rental must be paid 75 days prior to boarding. You may authorize Shasta Marina at Packers Bay to charge the credit card that you have on file automatically on the due date (75 days prior to boarding date). You may call with a different credit card prior to the due date. You may send a check or money order prior to the due date. If your rental payment is not received 75 days prior to boarding, your reservation may be cancelled and your deposit forfeited.

Cancellation Policy: All reservation cancellations must be made in writing. If a reservation cancellation is received by the Marina more than ninety (90) days prior to the first day of the scheduled boarding date, the Marina will refund the entire amount of the reservation fee and security deposit which it has received, less a $500 cancellation charge. For any reservation cancellation received by the Marina less than ninety (90) days prior to the first day of the scheduled boarding date, the Marina, in its sole discretion, may retain all or any portion of the rental fee and security deposit paid by the customer. The Marina regrets that it is unable to make exceptions to this cancellation policy to accommodate emergencies. Rental fees and security deposits may not be extended beyond one year from the initial reservation date.
Life Jacket Laws—Children 12 years old and under are required by law to wear a Coast Guard approved life jacket anytime the houseboat is in motion, this includes inside the cabin.
Maximum Occupancy: Take note of the maximum number of people allowed before making your reservation. Two persons over the listed capacity may be added for a one-time fee of $60.00 per person.
Smoking: All houseboats are Non Smoking! No exceptions $300 fine. Ashtrays are provided for smoking outdoors.
Pet Policy: Pets are welcome. A maximum of 2 pets per houseboat are allowed for an additional charge of $8 per night, per pet.
USE OF FIREWORKS, LAUNCHING OF WATER BALLOONS, GOLF BALLS, ETC., ADDING PERSONS ABOVE MAX. CAPACITY, OR STORING GAS CANS ON BOATS IS CAUSE FOR DEPOSIT AND BOAT FORFEITURE.
Any agent of Shasta Marina at Packers Bay may enter the houseboat at any time in the event of an emergency, or for normal maintenance or inspections. Guest agrees to maintain the cleanliness of the boat during the occupancy and to leave the boat clean and in good condition upon departure.
Our boats are rented for personal vacations use only. Parties and other large gatherings are not allowed. Specifically, the ‘gatherings’ on Mother’s Day Weekend and Memorial Day Weekend, are strictly prohibited. Violators risk forfeiture of their deposit, rental fees, and houseboat.
Shasta Marina at Packers Bay is not responsible for any loss due to equipment failure, weather, illness, accident, or change in plans.
Renter understands that water oriented activities can, by their very nature, be dangerous. Renter acknowledges that it is their responsibility to abide by the established rules of this facility, laws of Boating Regulations of the State of California and County of Shasta, and by the use of common sense and respect for others, and to see that the members of their party do likewise.
Disclaimer
The Renter agrees that Shasta Marina at Packers Bay shall not be liable to Renter, Renter’s invitees or any other person for any injury, loss or damage to any person or property on or about the houseboat. Renter shall hold Shasta Marina at Packers Bay harmless and indemnified from and against all loss or damage occasioned by use, misuses or abuse of any part of or fixture on the premises, surrounding areas and from or against any omission, neglect, or default of the Renter, or Renter’s invitees. The Renter acknowledges that Shasta Marina at Packers Bay assumes no liability there under.
